FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
Q: How do I prepare for the procedure ?
A: No waxing, tweezing, plucking or bleaching for at
least 2 weeks prior to your treatment. If possible, the treated
area should be shaved before you arrive. Your skin should not be
freshly tanned.
Q: How
many treatments are required ?
A: The number of treatments you may require for optimal
long-term benefits depend on the area you wish to have treated, the
hair density and your hair’s growth cycle. Your hair grows in
cycles and many factors influence its growth. Age, ethnicity,
weight, hormones, diet, medication and metabolism all play a part in
your hairs’ location, thickness and resilience. Most people require
3-5 treatments to achieve satisfactory results.
Q: How
long does each treatment take ?
A: Treatment time will depend on the size of the area
to be treated. Smaller areas such as the lip can be treated in 10
minutes, whereas legs or a man’s back would take an average of
approximately 1 hour. Consultations require extra time to insure a
safe and effective reaction to the laser.
Q: Are the
results permanent ?
A: The FDA has recently authorized the use of Coherent
Lumenis LightSheer for permanent hair reduction. This decision was
not made lightly. Only after years of reviewing statistical
scientific data on the results obtained with the LightSheer system,
was this claim made. This is a claim very few lasers in the world
today are able to make.
Q: How
long before I can return to normal activity ?
A: You can return to your normal activities
immediately after the procedure. It is a good idea to limit
exposure to the sun. The use of sun screen is recommended on any
treated areas exposed to the sun.
Q: What
advantage does the LightSheer have over other laser hair removal
systems ?
A: The LightSheer with it’s ChillTip technology and
solid state construction makes it the leader in Laser Hair Removal
Systems.

Q: Why
should I use the LightSheer Diode Laser System rather than the
methods I’ve been using for years ?
A: The LightSheer Laser is designed for maximum
comfort during treatment. Since the system uses a unique cooling
hand piece, it minimizes skin irritation that other methods may
create. Since it is non-invasive (no needles to penetrate the
skin), the risk of introducing bacteria to the skin is reduced. In
just 3 to 5 treatments, you can obtain maximum results!
Q: Does
the LightSheer work on tanned or different skin colors ?
A: The LightSheer Laser safely treats all skin types
(Fitzpatrick Skin Types I-VI) as well as tanned skin.

Q: How
does LightSheer compare with electrolysis ?
A: Electrolysis is a tedious, invasive and painful
process that involves inserting a needle into each hair follicle and
delivering an electrical charge to destroy them one at a time.
Electrolysis often requires years of treatments at regular
intervals. The LightSheer delivers light energy non-invasively to
hundreds of hair follicles simultaneously. So, in a few minutes,
LightSheer can effectively treat an area that would take over an
hour with electrolysis.
Q: What
are LightSheer treatments like ?
A: LightSheer’s cold hand piece greatly reduces any
discomfort during treatment. When the pulse of light is delivered,
some patients experience a slight sting or pinch similar to the snap
of a rubber band. No local anesthesia or pain medication is
required. However, some patients prefer a topical anesthesia when
sensitive areas are treated.

Q: Are
there any side effects ?
A: Short term side effects may include slight
reddening of the skin or local swelling which typically lasts less
than hour, although rarely may last a few days. In rare instances
there may be some blistering.
Q: How
long do I wait before the next treatment ?
A: Best results are obtained when treatments are
spaced 4 -6 weeks apart.
